About Me

nuthatch in my hand

My name is Elizabeth, and I am a freelance illustrator from the upper Midwest.  This blog is a collection of stories and illustrations I had originally only shared with my closest friends and family.

Many of the stories here are modern retellings of folk-stories, but other are ones I created myself.  I have always been fascinated with ghost and monster stories, so those feature prominently on this site.

Please feel free to share, but make sure to link back to me!

  1. Hi Elizabeth
I found your website when I was searching for the tune of the song King of the Birds. I just wanted to say that I enjoy your love of story and your illustrations are lovely.
My husband and I recently left our home in Massachusetts and have relocated to the Gulf Coast of Florida. There’s a wonderful Hammock Park a block from our little house, and I’m meeting a group of people who enjoy stories and storytelling as much as I do.
It is not so easy to dig up roots and relocate, but the ice that follows snow simply became too challenging for me to deal with.
Thank you for taking the time to put together such a nice collection of traditional and original folktales and lovely art work.

    1. Thank you for the time to comment Katie. I woke up this morning to -11 temps and the insides of all my windows iced over, so I appreciate your need to move.

Take care, and have a beautiful day.
